Balatonfured

Baltonfüred is a small town with 13,500 inhabitants located in the district Balatonfüred, Veszprém county, Hungary, on the northern shore of Lake Balaton, surrounded by slightly inclined hills. First of all, the location of the city surprises everyone: the tender mountains of the north and the beautiful lake from the south embrace the city.

The three churches in Balatonfüred rise in the upper part of the city as if to protect the peace: they are "Református templom" (Reformed Church), "Katolikus templom" (Catholic Church) and the newly built "Evangélikus templom" (Evangelical Church).
The old part of the city that was a village has many old houses that belong to the national heritage. Balatonarács was an independent village, but in 1954 it became part of Balatonfüred, and there are many beautiful old buildings here. On the two sides of the main street that leads to the old village, there are old buildings with one floor and two floors built in a row. In the old village or old town, as it is called today, the following buildings retain ancient folk traditions as shown on their memorial tablets. Siske Street leads into a forest and continues on a path, which offers a wonderful place to hike around Balatonfüred."Gombás-kúria" (Gombás Mansion), built in the second part of the 18th century, is one of the most famous buildings in Balatonfüred. Those members of the lower nobility built cellar houses like these around Lake Balaton, which admired the beauty and were endowed with a sense of style.
